Pleasant Valley Lutheran Praise Team
Members “We play to an audience of One!”
So reads the banner that the praise team plays under and the motto used on lyric sheets distributed when the group plays at events and worship services outside of Pleasant Valley. The praise team ministry began in 2002 and has evolved into a group of people who are passionate about sharing the Gospel through music, prayer, and testimony, and leading praise and worship to the “One”—our heavenly Father. The leader of the band is Jesus Christ and He has led the group within and beyond the walls of Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church.
The praise team leads worship services one to two times a month at Pleasant Valley. The group has played at many local churches, festivals and other events. A favorite venue is the Barnabas Christian Coffeehouse in Chippewa Falls. The band consists of eight members that sing, and play a variety of instruments including acoustic guitar, bass guitar, electric guitar, keyboard, violin, flute, harmonicas and percussion. Music performed is primarily contemporary Christian, with some occasional gospel and upbeat hymns.
The praise team has also been involved in prison ministry since 2010. The group made a commitment to lead worship at the Chippewa Valley Correctional Treatment Facility (CVCTF) in Chippewa Falls on the fourth and fifth Sundays of each month. Members of the group also fill in for the chaplain on occasion leading Bible study and leading the Thursday afternoon praise and worship service. The Holy Spirit is working in the lives of the men at CVCTF!
The group is available for booking by contacting Kim Vlcek by e-mail at vlcekkr@yahoo.com.
